Dear Parents and Carers,
We are all watching with concern the recent spike of cases in Victoria. As the Premier has said, the biggest threat to NSW’s success in managing COVID-19 is complacency. In light of this, we ask you to be extremely vigilant in observing hygiene and social distancing protocols and, especially, ensuring that your daughter does not come to school if she is showing any symptom of illness, no matter how slight.
You will no doubt be aware of the closure of the Victorian border on 7 July and the new public health orders that apply.
Under these orders, any NSW resident who has visited Victoria in the last 14 days is required to self-isolate for 14 days once they return home. If your daughter has travelled to Victoria during the holiday break we ask that you keep her home for self-isolation and monitor her symptoms. Guidelines for self-isolation can be found here.
To be clear: the first day of Term 3 is Tuesday, 21 July and no girl who returned home from Victoria after 6 July should be attending school on that date. Please contact health@queenwood.nsw.edu.au to let the School know that she will absent for this reason. Girls should only return to school after 14 days of isolation and, regardless of holiday travel, no girl should attend school unless she is completely healthy and free of symptoms.
I sincerely hope the effect of this month’s worrying numbers will be to heighten awareness and protect us all, especially the vulnerable. As we wait to see how the situation develops, however, I hope you can put these worries to one side and enjoy the school holidays with your daughters.
